Become a certified instructor

To become a Certified Instructor

You will attend Instructor Certification Trainings led by some of our Authorized Trainers: Anne Bower, Ellie Hayes, Laurie Knauer, Suzanne Lemire, Jerry Henderson, Marty Kidder, and Elizabeth Wirls. Experienced instructors are sometimes invited to assist as facilitators.

Our Fall Prevention Tai Chi Instructor Certification begins with a two-day workshop on the Level One and teaching method. We do a lot of work on modeling the warm-ups and basic movements SAFELY and EFFECTIVELY. The cost of this training includes a pre-training Zoom session and practice videos we send you before the actual training. Additonally, we offer free skillbuilder workshops during your term of certifiction where we get to practice together and gain new information.

New instructors are expected to then teach one or more classes and will learn a great deal from this teaching process.

About three months later, we offer a two-day training on the form's Level Two movements, which includes review of the basic movements and teaching method. Once again, we expect folks to teach, as well as attend one or more of our skillbuilder workshops.

Within a year of that we provide a training on the Level Three movements along with re-certication for those needing it at that time).

Congratulations to our latest group of new instructors! Ellie Hayes and Suzanne Lemire enjoyed working with this group of dedicated people. Now they can teach Level One movements and look forward to participating in a Level Two training in the spring.
